A Recipe

Finally! Finally! I made my own breakfast today! Yeah you read it right – I made my own breakfast today.

For the uninitiated, I have recently shifted to a new house, where I stay all alone now. There’s nothing substantial at my place as of now. Till the last few days I was dependent on Annapoorna or our canteen for breakfast. Annapoorna is the name of the hotel near our office- just in case. Well, coming back to my breakfast today. I made ‘sliced apple and corn chips with sugared milk’. To put it simple, its slices of apple mixed with cornflakes soaked in warm sugared milk. Here goes the detailed method of preparation:

Step 1:

Find a supermarket near your place of dwelling. Buy a box of cornflakes – your favorite brand and flavor. I tried Kelloggs. Also, buy an apple. You could try other fruits too, at your risk.

Step 2:

Find a shop which sells knives. You would need one to cut the apple. Before this you need to check if you have a tiffin box at home. Else buy one too.

Note that steps 1 and 2 should be done the previous day to avoid last minute confusion and delay and bloodshed since you are handling a knife.

Step 3:

Cut the apple into little pieces. The size of the pieces would depend on how you would like to have them. The peels and the seeds should be gathered in a separate polythene bag which can be discarded easily.

Step 4:

Open the cornflakes box, and fill the tiffin box with some. Add the apples to the box too. Most importantly – close the box with the lid.

Step 5:

Don’t forget a spoon.

Step 6:

Carry this box to your office. On the way to your bus stop, remember to throw the polythene bag into a garbage bin.

Step 7:

Once into office, you might take two minutes to check any important mails. Then head to the pantry. Request for two cups of hot milk with sugar.

Step 8:

Open your tiffin box and add milk. Stir a little with the spoon you brought along.

Step 9:

Share your treat with someone who is in early. Enjoy your breakfast all made by you!!
